The Flexible Capital Fund, L3C, a women-led Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) providing patient and flexible growth capital to innovative mission aligned companies in New England’s food, forest products and clean technology sectors, announces that Casey Johnson has joined the organization as fund manager. She joins Janice St. Onge, President and Fund Manager, as the Flex Fund moves into its next phase of investing.

Johnson brings more than a decade of experience in impact finance and regenerative agriculture. In her new role, she oversees deal sourcing, due diligence and portfolio management, and supports the fund’s overall operations.

“We are excited to welcome Casey to the Flex Fund team,” said Janice St. Onge, president of the Flexible Capital Fund. “Her expertise in values-based lending and her commitment to strengthening regional food systems will deepen our ability to support entrepreneurs working toward a more resilient and regenerative economy.”

Before joining the Flex Fund, Johnson managed food and agriculture lending at RSF Social Finance, where she led strategy and capital deployment for values-driven businesses nationwide. She also operated an independent consulting practice, advising CDFIs and food system enterprises on market analysis, due diligence and business planning. Earlier in her career, she served as a senior associate at the Nonprofit Finance Fund, supporting financial resilience for mission-focused organizations.

Johnson is a 2023 Just Economy Institute Fellow and a lifelong Vermonter. Her work centers on designing equitable, human-centered financial products and strengthening regional supply chains through relationship-driven investment.

“As the Flex Fund looks ahead to expanding its impact across Vermont and New England, Casey’s strategic insight will be invaluable,” St. Onge said.
