About Global Village Foods
Global Village Foods was founded in Quechee, Vermont in 2016 by Damaris and Mel Hall, bringing authentic African cuisine and cultural connection to Vermont's food scene.
The company produces a range of traditional African food products, including seasonings, sauces, and prepared foods that introduce New Englanders to the rich culinary traditions of Africa. More than just a food company, Global Village Foods creates cultural bridges through cuisine.
In 2022, the Flex Fund, along with participant Fair Food Fund, provided $500,000 in permanent working capital for new hires, sales/marketing, and fit up to new facility to support the company's growth and expansion, helping them reach more customers and scale their production capabilities while maintaining the authenticity and quality that sets their products apart.
“Food is a universal language. Through Global Village Foods, we’re sharing our culture and building community one meal at a time. We are excited to be a partner with the Flex Fund as it typifies the Vermont way of recognizing people and potential. The opportunities for Global Village Foods to continue scaling is supported, not just by the funding, but also ongoing business guidance, informational resources and network building. As the African proverb goes, ‘it takes a village’ – in this case to raise the next nationally recognized, Vermont Specialty Foods brand.”
