About WholeTrees Structures

WholeTrees celebrates the engineering mastery of nature by designing and fabricating biophilic structures with Structural Round Timber (SRT). Founded in 2007, the company makes columns, beams, trusses, and engineered assemblies from SRT that replace steel, concrete, and other unsustainable building products in commercial construction. Its work appears in schools, museums, zoo habitats, playgrounds, and resorts across the country. Their work brings beauty to our everyday while sequestering carbon, reducing waste through minimal processing, and investing in sustainable carbon-smart forestry practices.

The Flex Fund’s flexible investment structure using revenue-based financing supports WholeTrees’ expansion into New England, where it has reopened a dormant fabrication facility in Ashland, Maine. The facility sources from the region’s forests, paying responsible and sustainability-focused landowners and loggers well above market rates for their selectively harvested timber. The company also brings skilled manufacturing jobs to a rural Aroostook County community, with a commitment to living wage jobs with benefits. As a woman-founded and led business, the company has been a Certified B Corporation since 2015.

“We are so grateful to be partnering with Flexible Capital Fund. Our aligned values, mission and emphasis on reinvesting in the region immediately felt like the right fit for our future endeavors. This investment means that we can continue to bring investment to the forest communities of New England, support sustainable forest management and its carbon-sequestering benefits, and provide the architects of the east coast the regionally sourced whole-timber that they desire.”
Amelia Baxter, Co-founder and CEO
